Ross Williams moved from London with his young family and bought The Wellington in the summer of 2002. A self-confessed 'foodie', he set out to transform The Wellington into the county’s finest dining pub.
In March 2008 Ross, a self-taught chef with no professional training, was crowned 'Chef of the Year' at the PubChef Food Excellence Awards. Judges included food critics and Michelin-starred chefs, and whose comments included "Proper pub food prepared beautifully", "Passion pours out of him" and "Very clear approach, very articulate, very passionate".
Of course, nothing would have been possible without the passion, commitment and sheer hard work of all the rest of the team, from running the restaurant or bar right through to washing the dishes and mopping the floors! |
